Mla format for writing a research paper

MLA formatting shows itself as a convenient way of formatting research papers that allows the writer to write, but not to dwell too much on formatting. Starting with the absence of the title page and finishing with font types and margins, the writer appreciates the style he chooses.

When writing a research paper in MLA format, you need to follow general rules designed with the aim to encourage quality research and clear academic writing based on uniform requirements. According to these requirements, you need to present your work in a type-written form on standard-sized paper (8.5x11 inches).

While MLA formatting proposes to omit the title page, there still are rules of how to format the first page. Starting from the upper-left corner of the main page, indicate your name, the next line identifies the name of your instructor, the next with the course and the last with the date. The next line introduces the title of the paper.

If your teacher requires a title page in lieu of or in addition to the header, format the title page according to the instructions you are given. Number all pages consecutively throughout the research paper in the upper right-hand corner, half an inch from the top and flush with the right margin.
